Policy
Effective: January 1, 2007
Attachment Parenting International (API) takes your privacy seriously. Below are the guidelines
we use for protecting any personal information, which may include name, address, phone, e-mail address
and the details of your financial transactions. This notice applies to all information collected through
API staff, affiliated parent support groups, volunteers, publications, membership payments, and
submissions on the API website.
API collects two types of information:
- Personal contact information provided through a variety of voluntary submissions:
- Registering to receive our free, monthly electronic newsletter, API Links
- Registering to participate in message boards or forums on the API website
- Participation in polls or surveys on the API website or by mail
- Attending an API parent support group
- Receiving support from API Leaders and Staff
- Becoming a member or making a donation to API
- Purchasing goods from API
When you voluntarily share personal contact information with API, you may be added to our contact
database. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please notify us at the time you share information
and we will honor your request.
- Information API gathers through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page
views throughout our website and other electronic communications. This information is collected
into groups so that it no longer reflects or references an individually identifiable user.
- API tracks website user traffic patterns throughout our sites. We do not correlate this
information with data about individual users. Our web site doesn't make any use of cookies.
- API distributes a free, monthly electronic newsletter. It is distributed to:
- API members and leaders
- Individuals who voluntarily subscribe
- Individuals who purchase goods
- Individuals who make donations to API Headquarters
Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by following the link provided
in every e-newsletter.
- We use a third-party vendor, Constant Contact®, to distribute most electronic communication.

- We use a third-party vendor, PayPal®, to process financial transactions. You may view their

- When there is a discrepancy between the privacy policies of API and of a third-party vendor, API
will abide by the more restrictive, as determined by API’s Executive Director.
Sharing Data
API will never share personal information you provide with any other company or organization unless
we make such usage clear at the time of data collection.
Obtaining data on Children
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never
knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting
parental consent.
Security
API operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection
systems. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only
authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our customers.

You can update personal contact information collected by API or decline future communication from API
